| The federal-provincial 2010 Human Resources
Planning Committee engaged Pinay & Associates (O'Neil
Marketing & Consulting is a sub-contractor to Pinay) to facilitate
a Roundtable on the 2010 Human Resources Development initiative, to
engage the Aboriginal community.
The event brought together First Nation
representatives from across British Columbia
with aboriginal business and other interest groups. It provided
Aboriginal business people and economic development representatives an
opportunity to review the Olympic program and developments leading to
2010. Delegates also discussed ways that Aboriginal business, youth,
women and disabled people can access opportunities in jobs and
contracts. The comments heard are being compiled into a report for presentation
to the Winter2010 Aboriginal and Human Resources Committees.
The meeting included over 100 Aboriginal people
representing Aboriginal women in business,
young aboriginal entrepreneurs and persons with disabilities as well as
aboriginal human resource development stakeholders.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
A question will be emailed to July 21st participants
seeking their further comments and feedback to the session (the question
may also be posted on this site).
A smaller follow-up discussion group of people who
attended the July 21st session is being planned for early August 2003.
