Jerry Whitehead, Cree from the James Smith First Nation, Saskatchewan has been inspired by Native Dancers.

"My Mom's colourful braided rugs and native dancers inspired me in early childhood. The focus of powwows and powwow dancers forms the basis of much of my work."

He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Regina (Indian Art - SIFC, now the First Nations University of Canada) in 1983.  He also received a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax in 1987.

Throughout the years, Jerry has been involved in various public art projects, as well as Public Art and Exhibition Coordinator, Workshop Leader, Illustrator and Teaching Assistant.
